We stand for Solus Christus.

Solus Christus: Christ Alone!  If we stand for nothing else, we stand for this.  Who Jesus Christ is and what He has done, and continues to do for us, is of primary importance to the Christian Church.

Jesus is the Son of God, the Second Person of the Trinity.  As such He is God, eternal, all powerful, all knowing.

Yet Jesus is also the son of Mary, born of a virgin, a true human being.  These two natures of Jesus are joined now and forever.

And this lets us in on why salvation from sin and death must come from Jesus, for only Jesus can do what He did.  If Jesus were only a man, then His death could in no way make atonement for the sins of the world.  If Jesus were only God, then He could in no way die.

In Christ God does the impossible: God dies, and a man dies, for the sins of the whole world, for your sins.

And this event, the death and resurrection of Jesus, saves us.  There is salvation found in no other person, in no other event.  We stand for Jesus Christ, our only hope in a dying world.

[Tomorrow: We stand for "faith alone".]
